Andreas "Whiplasher Bernadotte" Bergh, vocalist for Swedish deathglam kings Deathstars, is featured in a new interview with Random Goth Couple. He discusses the band's latest album, Everything Destroys You, and among other things, the budget they put aside for kilo tubs of glitter.

On the electonic / synth aspect of the Deathstars sound

Whiplasher: "We're very fond of '80s music, all of us. I had a lot of Kim Wilde stuff on this album, which I can recognize (laughs). We like '80s pop music; it was a big inspiration, absolutely. Emil likes more of that music maybe than I do, so we come from different angles. Even though we've been sticking together for over 30 years we have a bit of a difference when it comes to music tastes."

Deathstars recently released their fifth studio album, Everything Destroys You, last week via Nuclear Blast Records. The band released the video for the album’s title track, "Everything Destroys You", which is directed by Damon Zurawski, who also did the video for "Midnight Party". It was filmed in the cold, hard surroundings of an old, abandoned slaughterhouse in Stockholm.

Whiplasher comments the video: "'Everything Destroys You' is a video that literally destroys the band. We have killed the band in quite a few of our videos, and for those who want to see us dead once again this is another excellent opportunity to see that happen. On one hand you could see Nightmare busy behind swaying chains in the cellar, while Skinny is working on a double bass at the same time as I got electric shocks from a depraved nurse."
