Wetalwani.com has issued a new interview conducted with doom metal vocalist Robert Lowe (CANDLEMASS, SOLITUDE AETURNUS), in which he discusses teaming up with composer and NS/Stick player Michael “Dr. Froth” Millsap (SIX MINUTE CENTURY, WELL OF SOULS) to record a concept album under the banner GATHERED IN DARKNESS. An excerpt follows:

Q: The latest news from your side seems to be that you are working on a new project with Dr. Froth, who is the bassist of Six Minute Century and Well Of Souls, which also happens to be an epic doom metal band. Could you tell us a bit about the various aspects of Gathered In Darkness and perhaps the stylistic leanings of this new project?

A: "Well actually the thing is, we’re all into doom and everything and so, the three of us got together and decided to make it a doomier, dark project. So, you know, we decided to call it Gathered In Darkness – the three of us and it’s progressive and it’s doomy."

Q: Could you tell us a bit about how this collaboration with Michael (Millsap a.k.a Dr. Froth) happened? What was the motivation behind this project?

A: "Oh, the motivation is simply that we want to play, do and go forth with what we’re doing as musicians as opposed to sitting on our asses and doing nothing."

Q: There are also a slew of other musicians joining in on this record, such as Joel (of STRIDE), Chuck Williams (of Six Minute Century) and John Calvin (of Well Of Souls). What sort of roles will they be playing in the creative process of the album? Will they be restricted to guest appearances, or will they participate in the song-writing as well?

A: "It’s going to be a whole collaborative process. Since we’re all down here in south Texas, and we’re all taking care of the whole situation, it’s going to be one big process where we all do what we do."
