EX DEO, the new band led by KATAKLYSM frontman Maurizio Iacono, recently tapped renowned director Stanimir "Staca" Lukic (MOONSPELL, KAMELOT, DEATHSTARS, TYPE O NEGATIVE) to helm the video for the title track of the group's upcoming debut album, Romulus. The clip was filmed in early March in Belgrade, Serbia where the magic of Rome was recreated.
The video for 'Romulus' can be viewed below.
Iacono recently commented [regarding the video]: "I wanted the ideal person to bring this concept to life and we felt Staca's plan to do it was the right one. What better place to capture it then Europe itself?! Staca's work is nothing short of phenomenal and I can't wait to unleash the past fury of Rome on the world! The setup was extremely professional. Stanimir and Ivan did such an amazing job and paid attention to every single detail. To recreate Rome and the story of Romulus and Remus was a big challenge, but I think we nailed it and the ideas behind it are incredible. Expect an epic feel, like the movie '300' for the texture... A big thank you to all the film crew and the actors!"
BEHEMOTH mainman Nergal will appear on the new Ex Deo song 'Storm The Gates Of Alesia' singing a very famous Caesar quote, Karl Sanders (NILE) landed a ripping solo on the song 'The Final War (The Battle of Actium)' which deals with Antony and Cleopatra's defiance of Octivian in Egypt, and finally Obsidian C (KEEP OF KALESSIN) will lend a majestic and melodic solo on the track 'Cruor Nostri Abbas' according to a new press release from Nuclear Blast.
Romulus is due on June 19th (Europe) and June 30th (North America) via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD was recorded with producer (and Kataklysm guitarist) Jean-Francois Dagenais (MISERY INDEX, DESPISED ICON, MALEVOLENT CREATION).
Romulus tracklisting: 'Romulus', 'Storm The Gates Of Alesia', 'Cry Havoc', 'Surrender The Sun', 'Invictus', 'The Final War (Battle Of Actium)', 'Legio XIII', 'Blood, Courage And The God's That Walk The Earth', 'Cruor Nostri Abbas', 'In Her Dark Embrace', 'The Pantheon (Jupiter's Reign)'.
