Former EDWIN DARE drummer Tommy Kollman, the brother of guitarist Jeff Kollman (COSMOSQUAD, GLENN HUGHES, MOGG/WAY), was shot and killed by a Fort Myers Beach, Florida deputy over the weekend.
NBC2's Kelly Creswell reports:
We're uncovering new details about the Lee County man who was shot and killed by a deputy. It happened early Saturday morning at the 16000 block of San Carlos Boulevard.
We spoke with a man who knew Tommy Kollman for 18 years and described him as a gentle giant, saying he wouldn't hurt a soul.
While deputies are staying tight lipped about the investigation, friends want to know why Kollman was shot. Two days after the 48-year-old lost his life, friends are still trying to comprehend what happened.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office says a deputy pulled over a suspicious vehicle around 3:30 Saturday morning. Kollman was driving that suspicious vehicle and pulled in behind the Love Boat Ice Cream shop. The sheriff's office says Kollman was armed, but has not gone into any further detail. What we do know is that shots were fired and Kollman was killed.
