Having earlier announced the cancellation of this week's gigs at Club Y in Newtown and Hobos in Bridgend, British blues-rock power trio FIREBIRD - fronted by guitarist / vocalist Bill Steer (ex-CARCASS / NAPALM DEATH) - have now issued the following update:

"What a day. We've just heard that Barnstaple and Swansea are cancelled, too. It doesn't take an expert to figure out that something's wrong here.

We've just received a little inside information concerning dealings between our booker and the local promoters, and things are starting to make a little more sense. We can't go into details at this stage - at least not without possible legal ramifications.

The unfortunate knock-on effect of this is that our UK dates for September and early October are also likely to pulled, as they were "arranged" by the same people.

We're going to do what we can to replace some of these gigs, but the chances are we won't be able to re-schedule until later in the year, if not early 2010. For those of you in the north of England hoping to see us play - we'll be at Damnation Festival, Leeds on October 24th."
