UK rockers GIRLSCHOOL have issued the following update:

"Well as you can imagine things aren't exactly 'cheery' in the Girlschool camp right now with the loss of our beautiful and talented friend Kelly Johnson. For anyone planning to come along to the two gigs we're doing in Germany this weekend we will still be performing as Kelly would have wanted it that way, although you may see that we'll be giving waterproof mascara it's toughest workout to date."

Kelly Johnson passed away on Sunday the 15th of July after fighting a six-year battle with cancer of the spine. Johnson left Girlschool in 1984 but returned to the ranks on 1993. She left the band in 2000 following the recordings for Girlschool's Not That Innocent: 21st Anniversary, released in 2001.

Girlschool dates include:

July

20 - Lübeck, Germany - Treibsand
21 - Jüterborg, Germany - Altes Lager (Motorcycle Jamboree)
