Heavy Metal On Blu-Ray "Postponed Indefinitely"
December 6, 2010, 13 years ago
David McCutcheon of IGN reports that the release of the 1981 animated epic Heavy Metal on Blu-Ray, which was originally scheduled for January 25, 2011, has been postponed indefinitely.
This is not the first instance of Blu-Ray titles getting cancelled out of thin air. According to Blu-Ray.com, the most recent example of this type of behavior was the quick announcement and damnation of Big Daddy in high-definition. The highest-grossing Adam Sandler film of all-time has since arrived on the shelves of Best Buy stores everywhere as a retailer-exclusive, meaning some lucky retailer has a 50% chance of snagging this cult animated title as an exclusive.
It's expected that Heavy Metal will arrive in high-definition sometime soon. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has a reputation of slowly allowing delayed or cancelled films to be released, it just usually takes some time.
