HIRAX Vocalist: "Cliff Burton... He Was One Of The Nicest People That I've Ever Met"

The Metal Den's Randy "Rocket" Cody recently conducted an interview with vocalist Katon W. De Pena of American thrash act HIRAX. The following is an excerpt:
Q: As I understand it, you hung around METALLICA quite a bit back in the day. Can you share a specific memory you have from being around those guys when Cliff Burton was still in the lineup?
A: "To be honest with you. I did know Cliff Burton, but I knew Metallica before that even. When they had the original lineup of Ron McGovney, Dave Mustaine, Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield. Mainly I was closest to Ron and James because they lived together. We used to go to the same record stores and shops for heavy metal 12" LPs.The main thing that you need to know about us back in those days is that we used to listen to heavy metal music together, get drunk together and throw up together... and trust me, we had a lot of fun doing it. As to Cliff Burton... he was one of the nicest people that I’ve ever met. He is what I’d call... a musician’s musician."
