IRON MAIDEN Nominated For Brit Award
January 20, 2009, 15 years ago
According to the Telegraph, IRON MAIDEN have been nominated for Best Live Act at the 2009 Brit awards. The awards, which are typically a strictly pop music affair has also nominated AC/DC in two awards following the release of their latest album.
The winners of the majority of the categories are chosen by the Brits voting academy, which is made up of 1,000 specially invited judges including music critics, journalists, and radio presenters. Less than a quarter of the judges are drawn from the record industry itself and 12 per cent are employees of the major record companies.
The awards ceremony will take place on February 18 at Earls Court Arena, in West London, and will be televised live on ITV1. The show will be hosted by Kylie Minogue and James Corden and Mathew Horne, the stars of the BBC comedy Gavin & Stacey. Performers announced so far are PET SHOP BOYS, U2, KINGS OF LEON, DUFFY and GIRLS ALOUD.
