Chortle.co.uk is reporting:

The surviving members of Monty Python are reuniting for another major documentary series, telling their story.

John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin are all contributing to the six-part programme Monty Python: Almost the Truth (The Lawyer's Cut)

The programmes will be made by Evita director Alan Parker to mark 40 years of the groundbreaking comedy troupe. The first episode of Flying Circus was aired on BBC One on October 5, 1969.

Jones said: ‘This is the documentary I always hoped that would be made — something so complete and so faithful to the truth that I don't need to watch it.’

Producer Andrew Winter said: ‘Monty Python broke new ground 40 years ago and re-shaped comedy forever. Its influence continues to resonate today across all popular culture.’

Guest interviews will include Russell Brand, Steve Coogan, Bruce Dickinson (IRON MAIDEN), Jeff Bridges, Eddie Izzard, Steven Merchant, Dan Aykroyd and Hugh Hefner.

The series will air on cable network IFC in the States, while producers are still in talks to find a British broadcaster to air it. The shows will be released on DVD and Blu-ray in October.
