Matt McGrory, the actor who donned Iron Maiden mascot Eddie's mask in the band's video for "The Wicker Man", was once named the World’s Tallest Actor by the Guinness Book of World Records, reports Norway Martin for Venture Jolt. McGrory was born on May 17, 1973 and passed away on August 9, 2005. The Guinness Book of World Records named him the tallest actor ever at 7 feet, 6 inches (2.29 meters) tall.
From Tiny Firefly in House of 1000 Corpses (2003) and The Devil’s Rejects (2005) to Karl the Giant in Big Fish (2003), he has played a variety of physically intimidating characters in his career. McGrory was also the holder of the records for the largest foot and longest toe in the world.
McGrory is the son of William and Maureen McGrory, and he was born in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Before he had started kindergarten, he was already taller than 1.5 meters. McGrory reached a height of 7 feet, 6 inches (2.29 meters) and wore a shoe size of 29.5. He attended Widener University for pre-law coursework. At West Chester University, he majored in criminal justice.
McGrory became a regular on The Howard Stern Show in December 1996 as a member of Stern’s Wack Pack because of his oversized frame. He was featured in music videos like Iron Maiden’s “The Wicker Man” and Marilyn Manson’s “Coma White".
