Keyboardist Jordan Rudess - "DREAM THEATER Is Moving Forward Quickly And Looking Forward To Creating Some Great New Music"

DREAM THEATER keyboardist Jordan Rudess has issued the following statement in the wake of the earthshattering news that drummer Mike Portnoy has elected to leave the band:
"Closing this chapter is difficult because Mike and I are really close friends, have been great musical partners and he has been a vital part of Dream Theater. Still, opening up the next chapter is really exciting because DT is full of ideas and energy about the future. Mike is the ultimate rock drummer and I know he will be successful at whatever he does. Meanwhile, DT is moving forward quickly and looking forward to creating some great new music."With news of Portnoy's departure, Rudess recently composed the song 'Change'. "Some really big changes happening and the best way I know how to express my feelings is with music. Here is another improvisation i just played on my Steinway, that also features a really cool Iphone/Ipod app that we are working on, called SketchWiz. Hope you dig it!!!"
