LED ZEPPELIN Singer ROBERT PLANT Left Dazed And Confused Following Car Accident
July 27, 2009, 15 years ago
BANG Showbiz is reporting:
LED ZEPPELIN singer ROBERT PLANT had a car crash with a drugs counselor. The rocker was driving his Audi A8 car when he collided with driver Richard Grant at a junction in North West London.
Grant - who is a counselor for charity Turning Point - was knocked unconscious and suffered whiplash in the smash, but came round to find the singer standing nearby.
Plant – whose car was damaged beyond repair in the accident - said: "My Mercedes is smashed up and I'm not in a good way."
Plant, 60, is not thought to have been seriously hurt in the accident.
The singer famously lived a life of sex, drugs and rock n roll excess during Led Zeppelin’s heyday in the 1970s. However, Plant has been drug free since 1977, after losing his five-year-old son Karac to a fatal stomach infection.
He said in 2005: "I haven't taken a drug since that day. I thought, 'How am I ever going to deal with the next moment and put my shoulders back and be a man?' I thought I'd better re-focus the whole deal.
"I still drink, and I don't spill much. But my days are long and they are beautiful."British-born Robert was also awarded a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) medal by Queen Elizabeth II earlier this month for “services to popular music”.
