Now a bit of background on our part of the split….
We started writing songs for this at the beginning of the year. It’s all new material except for the song 'Slave' which is actually a very old FTF song, circa 1998 or something way before FTF was a band, so most likely you never heard it as that early version of it was only released on some comp.
The recording was done in between tours in May and June at our rehearsal space in Ottawa. The whole thing was self produced with us handling all the recording, mixing and mastering. This was the first time we did this for an actual release (not just pre-production) since we did the split 7” w/ Subcut in 2004.
After the recording, we kind of shelved it for a bit to focus on re-learning the whole Disgorge Mexico album for our CD release show. Time caught up with us and we were hit with a deadline for the split just shortly before we were to leave on our month long US tour. So basically we did our best to mix this in a very short period of time, with the final mix being done just an hour before we crossed the border to start our US tour. The “mastering” was done on our patented van stereo audio mix master recorder (the same we used for Vangorge), was completed during the first few days of the tour and posted off to the label from somewhere in Middle America.
Though all these circumstances make for a bit rougher them usual recording, we still ended up with something we’re happy with and which give you a look into some of the new material we’ve been writing and.
Now for the shitty part; even though it was stressed in numerous e-mails and in the package that contained the master CDs, that there was to be no countdown time between tracks (we even sent song to song transition mp3s), the CD has those annoying two sec gaps in between songs which makes for an awkward flow to at least our part of the split. Luckily, the 7” doesn’t have these gaps. Perhaps it’s not a big deal, but for us it’s annoying to listen to this way so I just wanted state that it was an error on the part of the label or pressing plant."
