Guitarist RICHIE SAMBORA (BON JOVI) recently did a string of shows in Australia with guitarist/vocalist ORIANTHI (ALICE COOPER). They were joined on stage in Sydney by LIVING COLOUR frontman COREY GLOVER for a cover of the PRINCE classic 'Purple Rain':
Sambora played a show for the Starlight Foundation in Melbourne, Australia on February 27th. The Herald Sun's Nui Te Koha caught up with Sambora, and among other topics, discussed his position in Bon Jovi.
He said Bon Jovi, which recently toured minus Sambora, was not the real deal without him.
“At the end of the day, if you’re going to buy a can of Coke, you want the real thing,” Sambora said. "Jon (Bon Jovi) just has a different mentality. I know Mick Jagger wouldn’t tour without Keith Richards and call it the ROLLING STONES.”“For the longest time, even now, I’m considered Jon Bon Jovi’s side arm, or something. Hey, I built this band, too,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sambora is not sure about his future with Bon Jovi.
“I’m not saying this band will not get back together at some point, or not,” he said. “There will have to be a lot of communication, a lot of talking.”
