Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc. is set to release Greatest Hits…The Real Thing, a new compilation of LOVERBOY's biggest hits, on April 7th. As one of Canada’s biggest rock exports that have influenced an entire generation of rock fans, the release features 16 tracks that include all of Loverboy’s most memorable tunes, and looks at the band’s exciting career.

All tracks have been newly remastered and resequenced by guitarist Paul Dean. The album also features two recent songs 'The Real Thing', a track from the band’s 2007 album Just Getting Started, and the previously unreleased track 'I’m Alive'. The release also includes completely new artwork and band photos, along with liner notes originally written by Loverboy’s late bass player, Scott Smith, with additions from Paul Dean.

Discovered in Calgary, Alberta, Loverboy signed with Columbia Records Canada in 1980. Working with legendary producers Bruce Fairbairn and Bob Rock to record their self-titled debut album, the band released their hits 'Turn Me Loose' and 'The Kid Is Hot Tonite', setting record sales for a debut album in Canada, with over 700,000 albums sold. Upon release in the US, the album skyrocketed and exceeded 2 million copies sold in North America and 4 million worldwide.

With their sophomore album Get Lucky in 1981, Loverboy hit Platinum again, releasing the party anthem 'Everybody’s Working For The Weekend'. Between 1980 and 1987, the band released four multi-Platinum albums, featuring classics like 'Hot Girls In Love', 'When It’s Over', and 'This Could Be The Night', as well as the smash-hit 'Heaven in Your Eyes', released for the motion picture Top Gun.

Loverboy were the first group to be awarded Columbia Records’ Crystal Globe Award for selling over 5 million albums outside their native country, and at the 1982 JUNO Awards, they won six awards in one night- a record that still holds today.

In 2005, the band celebrated their 25th anniversary and toured North America performing their hits since 1980. The band still tours annually with original members Mike Reno, Paul Dean, Doug Johnson, and Matt Frenette.

Loverboy was just honored at the 2009 JUNO Awards which aired on March 29th, with an induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
