MEGADETH Bassist James LoMenzo Checks In
September 4, 2009, 15 years ago
MEGADETH bassist James LoMenzo has issued the following update:
"Happy to report that it's time to get the Megadeth touring Machinery rolling again. This is definitely one of my favourite parts of the business. Tomorrow, Chris (Broderick) and I are going to meet up with Dave (Mustaine) and get to some musical planning for the End Game touring ahead. We'll see what we can add from the burgeoning Mega-catalog that we haven't played together yet. It has an air of "kid in a candy store" as most of the bands fans might imagine.Let's see, what have I been up to lately, ...I've been doing some interviews, it's great to hear from the journalists about how pleased they are (the ones I spoke with at least) with the new album. It's really kick ass to hear some of their positive comments about their favourite tracks. What else? Been going through some gear for sonic inspiration. Looks like I'll be getting my old Rocktron "Blue Thunder" pre out again. It works really well in conjunction with my venerable Ashdown gear. Haven't used it much since the first Gigantour that I did with the band 3 or four years ago. Logistically, I just didn't have it at my disposal till now and I'm glad I do. I'd forgotten how much fine tuning I can manage using it. Highly recommended. ...I recently signed up with Dimarzio pickups which I've been using on my basses for the past year and a half. They've been my favourite pickups since I was a kid so it's great to be associated with them formally. Lastly, I'm just trying to decide which basses to take out this year, so many to choose from and so little time...
Anyway, I'll wrap up this "gear-geek" hour now.
I just want to send out some thoughts and prayers to an old friend of mine who's been taken' Ill recently. My best wishes to him and his family for his speedy recovery."
