METALLICA bassist Robert Trujillo is featured in a new interview with Peru This Week. An excerpt is available below:

Due to the energy and velocity of a great majority of the songs on the set list, some commenters on social media sites are questioning the band members’ ability to play it without suffering the consequences of playing such an aggressive and demanding set list. We sat down with Metallica bassist, Robert Trujillo, to talk about this and other things.

“It may be more demanding, but only up to a certain point,” says Robert. “The best thing about Metallica at the moment is that are trying everything. And this is the beautiful thing. In Lima, we’re going to get onstage and have fun and have a good time with our fans. Yes, I’ve seen the setlist and some songs have never been played live before. But our attitude is ‘Come on, we’ll try this.’”

One thing that was clear from the Lima show’s set list is that the huge preference of audiences over here are for songs from the first five albums. We ask Robert why that is.

“I think that there are some really good songs on those albums,” he says. “Metallica’s catalog has a lot of music. Usually the fans of a band like the oldest songs the most. In fact, the energy and the spirit of the first five albums is special. And it helps us write music now that still has that flavor, without leaving behind what we are now, obviously.”
