MNEMIC Guitarist Undergoes Surgery; Live Replacement Announced
July 24, 2009, 15 years ago
Danish modern metallers MNEMIC have issued the following band update:
“We apologize for the lack of news. We have been really bad with updates, but we can assure you it will change as we are taking the very first steps towards a new Mnemic album. There has maybe been some speculations regarding our last show, which featured an unknown guitarist handling the duties as a stand-in for our very own Rune Stigart. To clarify the situation, Rune had to undergo surgery for an old wrist injury, in which the doctor advised not to perform over a specific period of time. The band had already been booked in advance to headline the Sardinias Heavy Sands festival, which was impossible to postpone. The band’s and Rune’s decision was to carry on with a stand-in guitarist. His name is Victor Ray Salomonsen. Some of you might recognize his mom, Sanne Salomonsen, the great and famous Danish rock mama.
Victor stepped up to the plate and proved to be a great musician and performer, and we would like to thank him and the efforts made on such a very short notice prior to the scheduled appearance on Italian shores. We would also like to thank the organizers of Heavy Sands for making the show, trip, and the stay very special to the Mnemic family! See you next year!”
A live video from the Heavy Sands performance can be seen below. Photos from the festival can be viewed here.
