OOMPH! Part Ways With Vocalist DERO GOI; Band Will Continue With A New Singer
October 8, 2021, 3 years ago
At the end of September, Germany's Oomph! revealed they had parted ways with frontman Dero Goi (pictured center). The band issued the following statement but didn't reveal the reason for Dero's departure:
"After/since September 30, 2021, Dero is no longer part of the band OOMPH!. All three of us regret that despite our best efforts we did not manage to maintain the band in this constellation. We have jointly agreed that Flux (guitar) and Crap (guitar, keys) will be the band OOMPH! and wish each other all the best for the future!"
On October 5th, they followed up with the message below.
"Dear fans and dear friends of OOMPH!
Thank you for your many sincere and emotional comments on our statement from last week. We read and followed everything very carefully. As we, OOMPH!, founded well over 30 years ago, we would never have believed how exciting and how successful this journey would become. Without you and your support, we would never have gotten this far.
We love our band, our music and our lyrics just like you do. Of course, the many great concert experiences with you are also unforgettable. So we can understand your feelings very well and share your thoughts. We are very aware of our great responsibility for the future of OOMPH!. Of course, we are also very grateful for the many suggestions and well wishes, and above all for your trust that you put in us.
We fought hard for it, OOMPH! and all that we have built together over 30 years, in the well-known constellation. Unfortunately, we didn't manage to do that despite the greatest efforts. Now we will do everything possible to continue our common dream and music in the future. Of course, we need you again, your trust and your support.
Our entire team is preserved. Our live band and crew are completely on the move. Our record label, Napalm Records, is already looking forward to our upcoming album. Our concert agency, Seaside Touring, is already talking to the concert organizers about festivals and shows next year.
Crap and I have already written many new songs and lyrics for the new OOMPH! album, so the journey together continues with a new singer. It's going to be an exciting, new time and it's going to be great!"
