Sweden's iconic rock/metal titans, Opeth, announced yesterday that "due to conflict of interests", they have parted ways with drummer Martin "Axe" Axerot. His replacement for Opeth's tour with Mastodon is Therion's Sami Karppinen, who's first show with Opeth was last night (November 16) in Asheville, NC.
Fan-filmed video, including footage of Mikael Åkerfeldt addressing the audience about the situation, can be seen below:
The Opeth and Mastodon tour, with special opening guests Zeal & Ardor, will wrap up in Denver, CO on December 5. Visit opeth.com/tour-dates for ticket and tour information.
