December 12, 2022, 2 years ago
According to a report by Metal Hammer, found here, Pantera bassist Rex Brown was forced to bow out of the band's fourth show of their tribute tour in Santiago, Chile due to Covid. Cattle Decapitation / Scour bassist Derek Engemann stepped in for the gig.
Chile's Futuro FM reported that Brown had contracted Covid following Pantera's Knotfest show on December 9th in Bogota, Colombia, and flew home to the US to quarantine.
Knotfest Chile organisers released the following statement (translated from Spanish): "The bass guitarist of the band Pantera, Rex Brown, could not perform at Knotfest due to health problems. We regret this situation. However, the show proceeded as normal."
Pantera have yet to issue a statement regarding Brown's absence. Drummer Charlie Benante did, however, send a get well message to him via Instagram.
