ROB HALFORD On Getting Into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame: "If We Do Get In, It’s A Win For PRIEST, It’s A Win For Metal, It’s A Win For Our Fans"

The fan vote is currently underway for the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Class Of 2022. The top five artists, as selected by the public, will comprise a “fans’ ballot” that will be tallied along with the other ballots to choose the 2022 inductees.

As of now, 3,279,965 million fan votes have been cast, with Duran Duran, Eminem, Pat Benatar, Dolly Parton and Eurythmics rounding out the current top five. Judas Priest sits in 6th place with 200,891 votes.

Speaking with Los Angeles Daily News, Priest frontman, Rob Halford, is asked how special would it be for him to get in on his third nomination? Or is that something that’s not really a big deal for the band?

"It would be a blast, says Halford. "The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is for all kinds of music and that includes heavy metal. But if you look at the people who have made it into the Hall, there’s a distinct lack of this style of music that we make. If we do get in, it’s a win for Priest, it’s a win for metal, it’s a win for our fans."
