ESP has issued the following press release to Heavymetal.no:

"We?re happy to announce that Satyr, the creative force and main instrumentalist of black metal band SATYRICON, has joined the ESP family. Satyr is a multi-instrumentalist, and handles most musical performances on Satyricon albums, playing lead- and rhythmguitars and vocals. If you?re at all familiar with Satyricon?s music, you already know that Satyr is an innovator in the entire extreme metal genre. Formed in the early ?90s, Satyricon is now at work on its seventh studio album, with Satyr producing and Joe Barresi (Tool, Queens of the Stone Age, etc.) engineering and mixing.

Listen to Satyricon?s 2002 album Volcano, and you'll hear the distinct rock influence of bands like VENOM and BATHORY. This rock orientation to black metal is an exciting direction for Satyricon, and the public reaction reflected the power of the music, winning a Norwegian Grammy for Best Metal Album as well as several other accolades.

The band?s 2006 album Now, Diabolical even further expanded their popularity into audiences both within and outside of the black metal camp. While laying the final touches on their highly anticipated new album, The Age Of Nero (coming out November 3), they released the limited-edition My Skin Is Cold EP in June, featuring exclusive material, old and new.

In addition to his work with Satyricon, Satyr is also an in-demand contributor to other bands? work, and has done projects with bands such as Darkthrone, Eibon (with Phil Anselmo), Storm, Thorns and Black Diamond Brigade. We?ll keep you updated on this exciting new addition to the ESP family!"
