Saxon are about to begin writing sessions for the follow-up to last year's Call To Arms that saw top 20 chart success in Germany and Sweden. In other news, singer Biff Byford revealed to BraveWords.com recently that an orchestral album and concert is also in the works. "We have a guy who does the orchestration for us and scores everything," Byford reveals. "We're in the process of having some of our more anthemic songs orchestrated. There will be a concert and an album soon. We've done 'Crusader' and things like that and when it came back it sounded so fantastic. When heavy metal goes symphonic it can be disastrous. I think you need to add something to the song and not totally blitz it into CHOPIN or something. That's a mistake too many bands make - too much orchestra. But this one is sounding great. It's just a matter of adding an orchestra to a song to make it feel different."
Byford says to expect the project sometime this year or in early 2013.
