SIXX:A.M. - "We Don't Have Any Plans... No Touring, No New Music"
December 12, 2021, 3 years ago
Sixx:A.M. vocalist James Michael was recently interviewed by Australian outlet, Rock Lives Here. During his chat, which can be seen below, James revealed that the band is currently inactive, stating:
"Every time Sixx:A.M. made an album, we said to ourselves, 'This is the last album we're gonna make.' We said that on The Heroin Diaries soundtrack. We said, 'This is a one-off. We'll never do this again.' Then we did This Is Gonna Hurt, and it was, like, 'Yeah, this is gonna be our last album, for sure.' And then we did Modern Vintage, 'This is gonna be our last one.' So we've been saying that since the beginning.
When we put together this Hits album, of course, we had in mind that if this was the last thing that Sixx:A.M. does, we want it to be right and we want it to thoughtful and we want it to be meaningful. And so we really set out with that intention; we wanted to kind of put a nice bow on this decade of music that we've created.
So, as of right now, we don't have any plans for anything — no touring, no new music or anything. And that's why we're so excited to be sharing this Hits album with everyone because it may be the last thing we do. I don't know. We'll see. That's one thing I've learned with Sixx:A.M. — I never say never."
Sixx:A.M. have released a new lyric video for their track “Life Is Beautiful" (Piano Version), which appears on their recently released Sixx:A.M. Hits album via Better Noise Music. The project is a retrospective celebration of the band’s biggest hits and fan-favorite songs, that also includes five unheard tracks and mixes, marking the band's first official album with new material since 2016.
Showcasing different forms of life, the new lyric visual illustrates the magic of the human experience. Serving as the lead single from their debut album, The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack, the original “Life Is Beautiful” quickly gained popularity, reaching #2 on the US Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and #25 on the Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart.
Sixx:A.M. - featuring Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx, vocalist James Michael, and former Guns N' Roses guitarist DJ Ashba - are releasing the album as a companion piece to Sixx’s memoir The First 21: How I Became Nikki Sixx, available via Hachette Books.
After 21 years of sobriety, Sixx, also a founding member of the legendary music group Mötley Crüe, is incredibly passionate about his craft and an open book about his life in rock and roll. In the memoir, Sixx fills in the earlier parts of his fascinating true-life story, telling the inspirational story of his first 21 years, how Frank Feranna became Nikki Sixx. Combining his work as a writer and a musician, The First 21 continues Sixx’s tradition of setting the soundtrack to his own life, offering multi-layered pieces of art.
In 2007, Sixx:A.M. released The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack, alongside Sixx’s best-selling memoir The Heroin Diaries: A Year In The Life Of A Shattered Rock Star, introducing the concept of a book soundtrack into popular culture. Both the book and the album were successes upon release, with the book instantly becoming a New York Times-best seller in its first week, selling out in bookstores around the U.S. The album spawned the #1 single “Life Is Beautiful”, eventually achieving Gold certification in the U.S. Expanding this artistic signature move, The First 21 now get its own soundtrack with the Hits album.
