SKYFORGER Streaming New Song “Rāmava”

Latvian pagan metal legends Skyforger are premiering a new song from their upcoming sixth studio album Senprūsija (Old Prussia in English) with “Rāmava”.

Old German chronicles tell of a legend about a central place of pagan worship in Prussia at Romuve or Rickoyot, which was sacred for all Baltic peoples of the time. In the center of Romuve, there was a huge oak and besides it (or in its hollow trunk) stood idols of the three main gods: Perkuns, Peckols (or Patollo) and Potrimpus. In this sanctuary, lived the priests and priestesses (vaidelots), as well as the high priest Krive Krivaito himself. In Romuve, they conducted the most important pagan ceremonies and brought sacrifice to their gods. You will find more info in the CD booklet.

In this song, you can hear a little bit of the Prussian language, as we used an old Prussian/Lithuanian folk song (thanks to Jonas Trinkūnas and Kūlgrinda) as the main theme for this track.

Skyforger have been an enduring act of authenticity and folkish tradition for the past two decades and they're back once again with their unique combination of ancient and modern music, blending the traditional Baltic folk sounds with extreme sonorities such as the Norwegian black metal or the heavy metal from the '80s.

Senprūsija is scheduled to be released on April 6th via Thunderforge Records.
