On July 10th, the organizers of Sonisphere UK paid tribute to late Slipknot bassist Paul Gray, who was also known as #2. He was honored with a two-minute silence at 2:00pm. Gray's bass, red jump suit and mask were placed center stage, Slipknot's 'Vermilion Part 2' was played over the PA ahead of the remembrance. BBC Radio 1's Daniel P. Fans were able to leave a more personal tribute in a book of condolence that was left at the Metal Hammer signing tent for the duration of the weekend. The giant, leather-bound book was open to those who wished to leave their own obituaries, thoughts or drawings, from midday to midnight each day. The book was passed to Slipknot at the end of the festival on Sunday night.
