STRYPER Frontman MICHAEL SWEET Forced To Cancel Solo Christmas Show Due To Surgery For Detached Retina
November 23, 2021, 3 years ago
Stryper frontman Michael Sweet has checked in with the following update:
"I just saw the eye doctor and I have a detached retina. I’ll need emergency surgery (vitrectomy) on my right eye. A lot of time has passed (long story and many details) so I may or may not have normal vision restored. I’m believing that it will be and I, of course, welcome all the prayers I can get.
My left eye (good eye) has an old retinal tear and will require laser (in office) to repair. It’s susceptible to retina detachment as well.
I’ll be down for the count for 2 weeks (laying face down so the bubble they place in my eye can stay in place) and I’m guessing that’ll be the toughest part of all this.
Doctor says this is hereditary.
The Christmas show is cancelled but tickets will be honored next year as we have rescheduled the show for 12/10/2022. My sincere apologies as it breaks my heart to cancel any show or event. I love you all and I deeply appreciate all the concern, thoughts and prayers."
Stryper recently issued the following announcement:
"We've made our two recorded concert video specials, recorded Live at SpiritHouse, available for you now to watch as often as you want with one purchase of each stream. So far, we have released Even The Devil Believes and To Hell With The Devil, and coming soon will be Soldiers Under Command Head over to our Veeps page and purchase one or both to get those lifetime views."
