Swedish Metal Elite Pay Tribute To RONNIE JAMES DIO On Sweden Rock Cruise

A number of Swedish metal musicians paid tribute to RONNIE JAMES DIO (BLACK SABBATH, HEAVEN & HELL, RAINBOW, ELF) during the Sweden Rock Cruise, which sailed on October 7th from Stockholm, Sweden for Åbo, Finland and returned the following day.

The core band of the Dio tribute was melodic metallers LION'S SHARE, fronted by Nils Patrik Johansson (ASTRAL DOORS).

The cruise line-up also featured:

Jens Johansson (STRATOVARIUS, ex-DIO)

Björn Gelotte and Peter Iwers (IN FLAMES)

Mike Wead (BIBLEBLACK, KING DIAMOND, MERCYFUL FATE)

Mats Levén (KRUX)

Charles Rytkönen (MORGANA LEFAY)

Messiah Marcolin (ex-CANDLEMASS, MEMENTO MORI)

Joakim Berg and Magnus Andreasson (HARDCORE SUPERSTAR)

Johan Edlund (TIAMAT),

Johan Hegg (AMON AMARTH)

TIAMAT, ALIEN (original lineup) and NIFELHEIM also performed on the cruise.

Money was raised for Dio's Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund.

Marcolin remarked: "I just want you to know one thing. In the summer of 2005 I had the honour to get to know Ronnie James Dio. And he is one of the nicest men I've ever met. His songs are gonna live forever!"
