TEXTURES' new album, Silhouettes (artwork at left), is due to be released on April 21st through LIstenable Records.

The album features the following tracklisting: 'Old Days Born Anew', 'The Sun's Architect', 'Awake', 'Laments Of An Icarus', 'One Eye For A Thousand', 'State Of Disobedience', 'Storm Warning', 'Messengers', 'To Erase A Lifetime'.

Guitarist Jochem Jacobs discusses the album's production in the following Q&A;:

Q: It's quite of a stellar production, how much time did you spend on it actually for each process?

A: "Thanx! Well such a production takes a long time actually, most of it is recording and arranging. I guess about 2 weeks preproduction (demos etc.), 5 weeks of recording, 1 week editing, 2 weeks mixing and a few days mastering. I also left room for experiment in the production timetable, that's really important, especially cause not all the music was finished yet, when we started :-) "

Q: Did you update your equipment to record this album, what is your main equipment (soundtable, mics etc)?

A: "We get new equipment all the time! We're constantly upgrading equipment to suit the need. Especially for our new studios in Amsterdam, which are currently being built. This album was mixed on a 96 channel Soundtracs analog desk, which sounds really punchy. I love that desk. We used a shitload of guitar amps, like 5150s, JCM800, marshall 6100, mesa etc. and off course the Bo-El guitars, which have got that raw edge. We use very expensive but also really cheap gear, as long as it sounds good!"

Q: Any technical tricks you learnt from doing this new album compared to Drawing Circles?

A: "Every project has it's own approach, i guess in that mindset you always have to be able to solve problems that come along. With this album, I had quite a good roommic-trick which worked out the way I wanted it (or hoped it would ha, ha). With a band like Textures, the layering of sounds is the most important thing when mixing. Everything needs it's own space. I basically EQ'ed my ass off, ha, ha."

Q: You've remixed the album after initial mix (promo CD), what kind of flavour do you think you added?

A: "Yep! after the promo-mix, I still had 4 pages filled with my own comments, so I remixed until it was "perfect". After that I also remastered it off course. There are a lot of details that were changed, but mainly the sound got bigger and more transparant. More in-your-face \m/

So the cool thing is that the actual album differs from the promo unintentionally!"
