February 2, 2009, 15 years ago
THY WILL BE DONE vocalist J has issued the following update:
"Please go bid and make a donation on this brand new Thy Will Be Done t-shirt. All proceeds to benefit cancer research. It's less about the shirt and more about the cause. 100% goes to help fund research! Let's get that amount up! Let's make a difference! The auction is located here. The current bid is US $102.50. Bidding comes to a close on Saturday, February 7th.
This is a one time opportunity to benefit a great cause! If successful, this could be a great way for us to debut new t designs, but an even greater way for us to help out those less fortunate than ourselves. This is the first shirt design of 2009.
The shirt is maroon with yellow print. The design is of a lion with Latin writing 'per cruor per vox' (By Blood By Word) on the bottom. This t-shirt has not been sold in stores or at shows - it is the first time available to the public.
As a small token of our gratitude for the winning bidder's generosity, the winner will also receive an autographed Thy Will Be Done poster.
The proceeds of this auction will benefit The V Foundation for Cancer Research. The V Foundation received the highest score on charitynavigator.org, with the highest percentage of proceeds going to cancer research.
A little about the foundation as noted on charitynavigator:
"The V Foundation was founded in 1993 by ESPN and Jim Valvano. Valvano was a legendary North Carolina State basketball coach and ESPN broadcaster. The V Foundation is dedicated to saving lives by helping to find a cure for cancer.
The Foundation seeks to make a difference by generating broad-based support for cancer research and by creating an urgent awareness among all Americans of the importance of the war against cancer.
The Foundation performs these dual roles through advocacy, education, fundraising, and philanthropy. Since its inception, The V Foundation has raised more than $70 million and awarded research grants in 37 states and the District of Columbia."
