Maria "Tristessa" Kolokouri, leader of Athens-based all-female black metal band Astarte, lost her battle against leukemia in 2014. Ultimare Guitar has published a special in-depth feature in tribute to Tristessa's memory.
In the feature story Tristessa's widower and occasional writing partner, Nicolas Maiis, revealed that unreleased music from Astarte will surface next year:
"An unreleased, aggressive Astarte album with thrash and death elements recorded by Tristessa and Maiis, named Blackdemonium, will see the light of day in 2025. The voice of the black metal queen will be heard once more."
"Tristessa was a born leader," Maiis told Ultimate Guitar. "She always wanted to move forward in music and her style. She was a very confident person and she had much more to offer with her music."
