Launch Radio Networks has issued the following report from Don Kaye:
Songs from VELVET REVOLVER, THE STROKES, MODEST MOUSE and others can be found on a new compilation album called Serve, sponsored by Hard Rock International and Sony BMG Music.
Net proceeds from the disc, which contains several rare and previously unreleased tracks, will be donated directly to Artists Against Hunger and Poverty (AAHP), a program created by the non-profit organization World Hunger Year (WHY). Additional artists on the album include COHEED AND CAMBRIA, AEROSMITH, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN and GOOD CHARLOTTE.
The Strokes have contributed a home demo recording of the song 'Alone, Together', while Coheed and Cambria appear with a live acoustic take on the band's 'A Favor House Atlantic'.
The 12-track collection is filled out with tunes by DIDO, RAY LaMONTAGNE, LENNY KRAVITZ, THE HOLD STEADY and DMC Featuring SARAH McLACHLAN.
Serve will be available at Hard Rock Cafes around the world in the restaurant's Rock Shop, and can also be purchased online at both hardrock.com and worldhungeryear.org.
WHY is described in its press materials as "a leading advocate for innovative, community-based solutions to hunger and poverty" in America.
