WHITESNAKE/WINGER guitarist Reb Beach recently spoke with The Hairball John Radio Show about a variety of subjects ranging from touring with Whitesnake, past and future, to the new release from Winger entitled IV. The following is an excerpt from the conversation where Beach is addressing how the IV is being received:

Reb Beach: “It’s getting great reviews, musically. And it’s not what you would expect from a band with a name like Winger. It’s a very mature record. It has a big scope of different styles of music on there even more so than on a normal Winger record.”

Hairball John: “Reb, I know from our previous conversations that you are lover of eighties type guitar riffs. Do you feel you were able to bring that element to ‘IV”?

Reb Beach: “It does have some total eighties rock on it. There is a song called ‘Your Great Escape’, and Kip (Winger) knows that I’m the eighties guy, I want it to sound like 1986 and he wants to move ahead musically and I don’t, I just want to stay the same and keep rockin’ with three chords. But he is such a genius, composer, arranger and this was really his baby. So when I first got there the first song we wrote was ‘Your Great Escape’ and I was feeling great like it was going to be a total eighties record, but he gradually got more complicated on me and we ended up with this record that I think musicians are really going to appreciate.”
