ZAKK WYLDE Remembers Former Bandmate RANDY CASTILLO - "My Thing Of Randy Would Be Is The Way He Lived His Life"; Audio

To promote the recently released Black Label Society album, Doom Crew Inc., guitarist Zakk Wylde was interviewed by the Australian Rock Show podcast. Besides discussing the new album, Wylde was also asked about his memories of his former bandmate - drummer Randy Castillo, who passed away 20 years ago this month, on March 26, 2002.

Recalled Wylde: "I guess you would have to say - the legacy - my thing of Randy would be is the way he lived his life, I mean every night was Friday night. There was no room to be depressed, no room to be down, no room to be bummed out when we could be happy and have an amazing life. So y’know, whenever I think of Randy I think he was just like ‘every night was Friday night'  - And it was just like ‘no we’re gonna have a good time man' – which is an awesome way to live life, for sure. It really is the truth man."

Black Label Society's eleventh studio album, Doom Crew Inc., is out now via MNRK Heavy

The 12-track album is both a tribute to the band’s “first to bleed, last to leave'' road crew, and a salute to the legion whose support, stretching back to 1998, rivals that of the KISS Army. The stomping, heavy, bluesy, recklessly unhinged hard-rock-metal quartet are part invading horde, and part traveling carnival - summoning caffeine-fueled cacophony on records and the stage.

The songs are odes to celebration and mourning, the soundtracks to jubilant evenings and bewildering days recorded in Zakk’s home studio, the Black Vatican. On this album, Zakk trades solos and twin-guitar parts with Dario Lorina, backed by the rumble of longtime bassist, John “J.D.” DeServio, and powerhouse drummer, Jeff Fabb.
