LA GATES OF METAL III - Day 1: Hell Fire - Vicious Rumors Of Saber Riot Haunt The Intranced!
October 17, 2023, a year ago
Quite an impressive line-up, right of the the Gates, with 13 acts, comprised of the classics, emerging and hotly tipped, all showcasing their wares on the Grove Amphitheater stages (one indoor, the other, outside, in the So Cal sunshine) on the warm fall afternoon/evening of October 14. Ninth Circle began the day. Angel Fury, with jut their second gig ever, christened the inside stage. Boston area Adamantis staked new territory, in the West. Kantation offer a heavier groove than the others. Anger As Art stormed the main stage.
Saber debuted a pair of new songs, destined for the next record (early next year). Intranced, fronted by the excellent pipes of James Paul Luna (ex-White Wizzard/Holy Grail) continue to impress (now get that full-length released!). Vicious Rumors re-introduced returning vocalist Brian Allen. First time (finally!) seeing Hell Fire, and they didn't disappoint, with tasty dose of speed and melody. Michael Oliveri and Hail Mary played a set of Leatherwolf tunes. Trevor Church and Haunt headlined the club stage and the night culminated with Riot V.
A detailed report will be posted shortly. In the meantime, here's a look at what transpired.
