LEGIONS OF METAL 2024 - Day 1: Canadian Invasion, Eh?
May 7, 2024, 6 months ago
Amongst the ten acts scheduled for the first day, 40% resided north of the border and it was the initial Stateside show for both Tower Hill and Lycanthro. The latter kicked off the day, taking the main stage at 5:30.
They were followed, on the "Joint" stage (in the Reggies bar area), by Cleveland's Olathia (plus a couple of guest vocalists for the concluding run through of Savatage's "Hall Of The Mountain King"). Owlbear were an early must see, performing their first live show, ever (and acquitting themselves well, in the process). Perennial Quest could barely fitting all their personnel on the smaller stage. Tower Hill won high praise from the sold out crowd, while Dysplacer completed a run of four rare festival appearances.
Fresh from Keep It True and with a new album on the shelves, Greyhawk brought out some stage props and delivered a winner. Theandric had a cue card waving ring girl alongside. The brightly attired Striker and headlining Unleashed The Archers finished the night, back-to-back, in the big room.
Here's some images from night #1. A full recap will be posted soon.
