BW&BK; has received the following press release:

Virginia-based band aim to prove metalheads can help out Child's Play Charity, founded by authors of webcomic Penny Arcade, to be benefactor of donations.

Death metal = Christmas cheer? In the minds of Virginia's Adversary, it just may.

Beginning in early December, all merchandise sold by the band and its distributors will have its proceeds donated to Child's Play, a charity whose founding concept is not unfamiliar to metal fans everywhere. Started in 2003 by the authors of video game themed webcomic Penny Arcade in response to a newspaper article which characterized gamers as violent and immoral, Child's Play has raised millions of dollars and donated countless toys and video games to children's hospitals in the United States around the world. Inspired by this attitude of put-up or shut-up, Adversary set to work on plans to contribute in their own way.

Guitarist Brad Ryder had this to say about the band's efforts: "I've been a Penny Arcade reader since the early days, and when they started Child's Play I always wished I could contribute in some significant way. Since putting out Singularity in October, we've seen a really great reaction and have been selling copies of the disc to metal fans all over the world. It just made sense to me to share the rewards. A hospital is a terrible place to spend your holidays, so I think it's cool to, hopefully, make things a little better for them. All the guys in the band are extremely excited about it. I hope this sets a precedent and other bands in the Virginia area and everywhere else contribute as well; this year and in years to come."

Adversary's debut album, Singularity, has garnered universal praise and attention from metal news media and labels since its release on October 2nd. The disc is available for purchase at the band's website www.adversaryband.com, as well as their MySpace profile www.myspace.com/adversarymetal.
