Australian Black Metallers DEADSPACE Return With New Album The Dark Enlightenment

One of Australia’s most exciting and enigmatic extreme metal outfits, Deadspace, have released the new full length album, The Dark Enlightenment.

The musical, lyrical and philosophical trajectory of Deadspace has entered into the realm of the masterful and the unrelenting. Taking another step away from the melodic depressive elements of past eras and re-asserting their place amongst the heavy and experimental black metal elite.

The Dark Enlightenment is available now via Bandcamp

Tracklist:

"Reptillian Birthright"
"Culminating Chaos"
"In The Vault Of Murmur"
"Fanged Noumena"
"Dysgeusia"
"The Catacosmic Conundrum"
"Into Shadow"

The Dark Enlightenment' is the quintessential album of the new Deadspace era. As the final definitive disconnect from our old DSBM roots, this record delivers the ferocity hinted at in last year's release. It is longer, sharper, puncher and more focused than it's predecessor, carving space for Deadspace to re-settle in more extreme metal circles. This change has been a long-sighted pursuit and the band is finally ready to unleash its pure vitriolic fury.

The albums title is a direct reference to the work of controversial philosopher Nick Land. This is not to be confused with an endorsement of accelerationst theory, but rather, an artistic exploration into the problems that it aims to address. In particular, the notion of the Fanged Noumena is addressed in detail, underpinning the undeniable omnipresence of a systemic capitalist artificial intelligence in which humanity can only serve. The album acknowledges this fact and parallels it with Lovecraftian cosmic horror as the basis of the tortured human psyche.

The artwork, created solely by Anett Gebauer, is a depiction of the inseparability of these two concepts as we see the Fanged Noumena and the face of horror standing as one illusive force, shrouded by darkness. The faces are anthropomorphic connecting the horror to the psychological realities and imaginations of the human consciousness.

Deadspace first emerged into the global spotlight with their debut record, The Promise Of Oblivion (2015) as a depressive black metal entity, and have since evolved into their own unique brand of apocalyptic and filthy chaos.
