BRET MICHAELS Rings In New Year Eve In Orlando, Confirms Heart Surgery Date

VH1 reality star BRET MICHAELS rang in the New Year performing two sold out shows at City Walk at Universal in Orlando, Florida on December 31st. Michaels sang 'Sweet Home Alabama' as the clock struck midnight and led the crowd into a special New Years Eve countdown welcoming in 2011 with much enthusiasm. The 60 minute set featured many POISON hits including 'Talk Dirty To Me', 'Look What The Cat Dragged In' 'Fallen Angel', 'Nothing But A Good Time' and also included new single 'What I Got' from his latest solo release, Custom Built.

Bravewords.com correspondent Deb Rao spoke to Michaels after his performance and he confirmed Monday, January 24th for his heart surgery date. He commented: "2010 has been a year of many ups and downs. I am just happy to be alive."

When asked if he had any New Years resolutions: "After I have my heart surgery on Monday, January 24th, I plan on staying out of the hospital for a very long time."

As previously reported, Michaels made news just about every way you can imagine in 2010, making him FOX411.com’s Celebrity Of The Year.

“I am completely honored—I’m at a loss for words other than just a big thank you,” Michaels told FOX411.com in an exclusive interview. “It’s a completely awesome honor!”
