This New Year, 2025, Maryland 80's-scene rockers, Gastem, will ring in their 40th anniversary. To celebrate, they've released a fittingly-titled single, "Happy New Year". Listen below.
Gastem was formed in Maryland in 1985, literally months before independently releasing their first album, Catch The Flame, in July of that year. They toured the regional Maryland/DC/VA club circuit, headlining to large crowds and opening for many of the era's national acts, like their Atlantic Recording Artists Baltimore brothers, KIX (whom Gastem rhythm guitarist Mark Schenker became the full time bass player for in 2001).
The band recently announced on social media that they've signed with Eonian Records, who will be re-releasing digitally remastered versions of both of their extremely rare and long out-of-print albums, the aforementioned Catch The Flame (1985) and 1986's Do It Like Wild to further highlight their 40th Anniversary. The reissues will feature never-before released bonus tracks dating back to the band’s very first rehearsal session in the summer of 1984, extensive liner notes, original and new album art, lyrics, rare photos & more! Stay tuned for an official announcement from Eonian with release dates.
"Happy New Year" follows on the heels of Gastem's recently well-received Gastem III album that landed November 1 sparking a delightful outpouring of healthy support from both fans and critics.
