METALLICA Hit 1.3 Billion Streams On Spotify In 2021

On December 31st, 2021, Metallica checked in via social media with the following message for the fans:

"With all the ups and downs of 2021, one thing remained consistent – you listened to a lot of Metallica on Spotify! Just when we thought you couldn’t possibly listen to any more, you went and proved us wrong. Clocking in at 112.2M hours of streaming, we were the top artist for 1M of you! Honestly, we don’t even know what to say. But a massive THANK YOU, 'TALLICA FAMILY feels pretty appropriate right about now. Happy New Year to you all; we’ll see ya in 2022! #2021ArtistWrapped."

Metallica's global fanbase came from far and wide to celebrate the band's 40th anniversary at their San Francisco concerts on December 17th and 19th at the Chase Center. The venue has released the video below, which features interviews with fans from around the world.

Fans who missed Metallica’s 40th anniversary concerts this past weekend can enjoy rebroadcasts of both shows on-demand exclusively on The Coda Collection this Christmas Weekend in the US and on Amazon Prime internationally.

The shows will be available to stream from Friday, December 24 at 9 AM, PT /12 PM, ET / 5 PM, GMT / 2 AM, JST through Monday, December 27 at 8:59 PM, PT / 11:59 PM, ET / 4:59 AM, GMT / 1:59 PM, JST.
