Metallica pulled off the surprise of all surprises on June 8th at their Orion Music + More Festival. During a slot that was scheduled for the mystery band DEHAAN, Metallica themselves appeared onstage and ripped through their 1983 debut album Kill ‘Em All in its entirety. RollingStone.com has posted exclusive multi-cam footage of the band kicking off their set with 'Hit The Lights':
"If you weren't able to make it to Detroit to check out the shreddage – or understandably goofed and passed up on Dehaan's late-afternoon set – now you can check out this exclusive video of Metallica thrashing their way through opener 'Hit the Lights'. Both the song and album are about to turn 30 next month, but watching Kirk Hammett wail and wah-wah his way through the closing solo of 'Hit the Lights' feels fresh as ever."Famed metal photographer Ross Halfin has posted a recap of the Orion Music + More weekend (including soundcheck) online. Check it out at this location.
The surprise setlist was as follows:
'Hit The Lights'
'The Four Horsemen'
'Motorbreath'
'Jump In The Fire'
'(Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth'
'Whiplash'
'Phantom Lord'
'No Remorse'
'Seek And Destroy'
'Metal Militia'
