It was recently reported by iHeartRadio.ca that a high school principal with a love for heavy metal was the focus of a petition to have her transferred from her St. Catharines high school.

A petition was posted on Change.org called 'Eden High School Principal, Sharon Burns, Needs To Be Transferred Immediately!'

Parent, Debbi Lynn, created the petition after Burns posted a picture of her with an Iron Maiden flag on her social media account.

Burns doesn't hide her love for metal music, and even describes herself as being 'fueled by metal & ska. & chickens.' She is also a Buffalo Bills fan.

Another Change.org petition was created supporting the Principal. It was signed by hundreds more people than the original one calling for the DSBN to relocate her.

In a follow-up report by the National Post, it has been revealed that Burns will be staying at Eden High School.

“I’m surprised it blew up in the way it did,” said St. Catharines city councillor Karrie Porter. “It is funny, silly and frustrating all at the same time.”

It didn’t take long for the dispute to travel from the Niagara region across social media, talk radio, newspapers and beyond, from New York to Kuala Lumpur, and shared by politicians and rock bands.

Public support quashed the call for Burns’ ouster.

The petition against her garnered 553 supporters, while the petition of support zoomed well passed 20,000 after wide calls from students and fans of music and free speech.
