June 30, 2007, 17 years ago
Austin, TX based metal-for-kids band ROCKOSAURUS REX have issued the following tribute to BW&BK;'s homeland for Canada Day:
"Canada Day is coming up! So, here's a new demo song on our MySpace profile, 'Land Of The Silver Birch', for the land that brought us ANVIL, TRIUMPH, RUSH, VOIVOD and many others. We don't have a song for Independence Day but since this song was already recorded we thought we'd put it out there. Hope you dig it, and feel free to comment on likes or dislikes. Cheers!"
As previously reported, Rockosaurus Rex has released a new CD called The Big Bang!, which features classic kids' songs done up as heavy metal tunes. The official press release is below:
"Rockosaurus Rex is a kids' hard rock band of four dinosaurs - Rex (guitar, vocals), Screech (guitar), Bones (bass), and Sara Tops (drums). The debut album release, The Big Bang!, features true rock versions of 21 classic children's songs, complete with wailing guitar solos and driving percussion. The Big Bang! interprets kids' music on a grown-up level. From the QUEEN-inspired 'This Old Man' and the instrumental metal 'Pop Goes The Weasel', to the anthemic sound of 'John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt' and the radio-friendly pop rock 'Six Little Ducks', each song is arranged and performed as a valid rock band composition. This album will appeal to parents as much as kids, especially those who are sick of the typical watered-down children's music."The Big Bang! is available now for preview and purchase at www.rockosaurusrex.com and www.cdbaby.com/cd/rockosaurusrex.
