In a recent interview with Mark Morton at the Heavy Metal Examiner, LIZZY BORDEN took a shot at veteran metal radio guru Eddie Trunk (That Metal Show):

Morton: I’m shocked that you’ve never been (or even discussed) on That Metal Show, which is hosted by Eddie Trunk, someone who prides himself as a force in the traditional metal circuit.

Lizzy Borden: "He’s actually one of those folks who doesn’t like us. He doesn’t get it, doesn’t understand it, and just doesn’t want to know. We played the Rocklahoma event, and he was supposed to interview us, and he didn’t show up. He was supposed to see the show, and he came and actually only saw about the last 20 seconds of it, and then he went on his radio show and slammed us. And he slammed us on his TV show, too. Unfortunately, you get those people – it’s just like that A&R; guy. But that’s why someone like Ryan Seacrest is so popular. He doesn’t care about personal taste; he will interview anyone who is in his path and doing something; whereas this guy only plays to his personal taste, and the stuff that he doesn’t like, he won’t even bother with. He’s probably getting caught up in his own fame, too. There are probably a lot of little factors going on there, but what it boils down to is that he covers only what he is interested in, the audience be damned." (Check out the complete interview here).

Trunk has since responded with the following statement:

"Lizzy Borden clearly has no clue who I am and what I'm about. Never even met the guy to my memory. Hysterical that he thinks he has any idea what my 27 years in this business has stood for. Countless bands I have supported that I was not hugely into, and countless bands I love that I don't play because my audience does not care in any real numbers. As for Rocklahoma I didn't interview any bands low on the bill as my deal only called for me to do the closing three bands each day. Sorry I didn't want to be there from 11AM in 110 degree heat with a bunch of empty seats. A local radio person was assigned ALL early bands on Rocklahoma. That being said I watched all of their set that day, never slagged them on TV or Radio, and actually play the band from time to time. And thank God I'm not Ryan Seacrest and actually have an opinion! Considering the lack of interest in this guys career after decades I'm not surprised he's obviously bitter. Sorry I don't love every band and I'm honest!"
