BraveWords.com has received the following press release:

In light of the just-announced cancellation of AEROSMITH/ZZ TOP tour dates which had been slated, ZZ Top is mounting a tour of its own that will hit the ground running as soon as this coming week. Routing will take ZZ Top to many of the markets that had been on that cancelled tour's itinerary, giving fans a second chance, in a manner of speaking, to see the band after all. ZZ Top affirms a commitment to scheduling as many dates as feasible as soon as possible with more specific details relating to markets, venues, ticket sales, etc. to be revealed shortly.

Aerosmith dropped out of the tour due to injuries sustained last week by front man Steven Tyler. When it became apparent that the dates they were scheduled to share with Aerosmith were in jeopardy, ZZ Top band members — Billy F Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard — caucused with management and came up with a plan to get the show back on the road on an ASAP basis.

"We, like so many fans, are disappointed that we're not going to be out with Aerosmith and we wish Steven a speedy recovery," said ZZ Top's Dusty Hill. ZZ's Billy Gibbons chimed in, "As musicians, we sometimes have to improvise and that's exactly what this tour is about. We're going to get out there as quickly as possible and to play for people who want to come to a ‘down ‘n' dirty' rock and roll show – no frills and no holds bared."

"When we found out that the tour was going to be cancelled, we got together and decided that since we're ready, willing and able, we should get out there immediately and get it on and that's exactly what we intend to do," said Frank Beard of the decision to move on.

New ZZ Top dates, informally known within the band's inner circle as the Necessity-Is-A-Mother Tour, will be posted on zztop.com as they are confirmed. It is expected that as many as 20 performance dates including stops in Los Angeles, Anaheim, Chicago, Detroit, Atlantic, City, Washington, DC, Boston and New York will be part of the tour that will launch within the next few days on the west coast.

The band will also be spending time later this month in the studio with producer Rick Rubin before heading out on the road in September. In October the band embarks on a European tour that will bring them to concert venues in Greece, Holland, Austria, the UK and elsewhere.

For fans who purchased tickets to the canceled shows with Aerosmith, refunds may be obtained from point of purchase. Visit LiveNation.com for more information.
