The third and final installment of the 2022 Oslo confab was yet another musically varied event, with highlights that included the slick, melodic/poppy AOR-meets-film soundtrack styling of Sweden's Nestor as well as the savage brutality of 1349. Add a dose of Abbath, longtime BraveWords favorites, Paradise Lost (quizzically playing opposite their Northern Music management stablemates and similarly minded kin, Opeth), a dazzling, video enhanced performance from Within Temptation and the age defying collection of talent that is Deep Purple. Quite the dichotomy.
