Metal Kaoz recently conducted an interview with AMON AMARTH frontman Johan Hegg, who talked about the US tour dates, his

participation in the Northmen - A Viking Saga, movie and the band's future plans. An excerpt follows:

Q: In the Deceiver Of The Gods album’s special CD edition you added an EP with four tribute songs, so how did you come up with this idea?

A: "This is one of the things that come up when you’re talking about ideas of what to do and you know, there is a current trend with bands trying to sound like the band they looked up to like GHOST wanted to sound like MERCYFUL FATE and stuff like that. So, we thought to do just for fun a set of tribute songs and not covers because everybody is doing those. So, we came up with 6 or maybe 7 bands that we’d like to try and write similar music..."

Q: OK, now you have to tell me who were the rest of these bands.

A: "Hmm, I don’t really remember but I think we had a METALLICA song as well."

Q: Are you talking about early Metallica?

A: "Yeah, it was something like 'Master Of Puppets' but we just didn’t have the time to do it. I think we wrote and recorded those four songs in three days."

Q: How did you manage to sing like OZZY OSBOURNE? What’s the deal here? Did you use any special effects to sound like that?

A: (laughs) "No, it was just me and, in fact, it was kind of easy to sound like Ozzy because his voice is kind of flat and nasal."
